Still haven't heard an album as good as 'Not For Threes' from them. I miss it's complexity & variey of themes. But they always keep making one good thing: melodies. And there's plenty of them here. The rhythm is usually minimal, but what's on top of it is beautiful. You can fall in love with it. [Plaid - Scintilli]

Imagine something between 'Tumma" & 'Trahnie', considering the personnel involved. It's actually better than that. It's dark, noisy but light at the same time. Every instrument has the occasion to give amazing demonstration. And you have: a) acoustic bass, b) soprano saxophone, bass clarinet, sruti box, preparations, c) electronics, live processing, d) drums, percussion. Obviously the first track belongs mostly to Vainio, as it's evolving noise thing. Then there's bass & the rest. Capece is less distorted than on 'Trahnie', mentioned above. Delay's parts are quite subtle, but holds it all together, Shirley's monotonous bass gives it a strong rhythm. Weird, epic, impressive, experimental. Would love to hear it live. [Vladislav Delay Quartet - Vladislav Delay Quartet]

Neo-folk tendencies were present in his previous albums, but this time he went nuts with it. It's not an obvious thing to like for electronic music fan, but it's Bibio, so you can't be disappointed by the music. This is certainly the truth. The vocals are odd, almost every song is a hit, but the intrumental background is always intriguing. There are obviously few favorites like 'Excuses', 'Anything new', 'Feminine Eye'. [Bibio - Ming Bokeh]

There's no better music than Eno's best ambient albums. And he had quite many of them. This time it's on WARP. It's somewhere between 'The Pearl' & 'The Plateaux Of Mirrors', with drops of his rock stuff, and this is quite a recommendation. It flows peacefully, interrupted with more aggresive guitar parts for few times, that's why it's not as "clean" as those mentioned above, but that's not a letdown. One of his best albums in years. Hypnotizing beauty. [Brian Eno - Small Craft On a Milk Sea]

Massive hip-hop beats is pretty new thing from Devyanin, but he sounds like he's not a rookie. Name suggests he'd like to contaminate the music 8-bit style, and we'd like that. One track pretty can stand for the whole release, it's no.2 'Kiss your TV', it's epic, i mean it. The rest it slightly less heavy but entertain equally. Nice new outfit from Alexey Devyanin aka Stud aka Gultskra Artikler. [Pixelord - Fish Touch]

He's getting weirder every time. But at the same time it's a pleasure to listen to. It starts with serious hiccup or bursts of familiar Fell/Snd sounds. The pattern stutters, changes, evolves (irritates unexperienced listener). You can't dance to it. You can try, but you'll likely fail & end in hospital. What a joy for a trained ear! (Mark Fell - UL8)

I was disappointed when Jan Jelinek abandoned his famous clicks'n'cuts sound in favor of more texture oriented music, and i couldn't find a suitable replacement for his melodic music, besides Raster-Noton artists minus the melodic part of course. That is - until i found Pleq. There's more piano in his music, delicate background voices, besides that - crackling sounds, soothing cuts, dreamy atmosphere. It's not really the same as Jelinek, but it shouldn't be. It has its own soul. And i like it very much. Oh yeah, he's Polish. (Pleq - My Life Begins Today)

Odd project from the very concept to its execution. Causes disorientation after first contact, but has then a strong tendency to grow big on listener. There this famous bass guitar, for example at the beginning of 'Endless Night', track with lots of ideas & styles packed into it, also 8-bit sounds(!). 'Abstract Lover' makes my heart warm during every listening. There's a lot of crazy guitar stuff, percussion is slightly basic, but that's ok. The whole thing is amazing. Would love to see them kicking ass live. (Squarepusher presents Shobaleader One - d'Demonstrator)

This was a long wait. At the end it would be either a big let down or real surprise, luckily, author of 'Fell' has done a proper successor. It's even weirder, runs away from obvious melodies & rhythms, but there's Bach deep there somewhere. (Sutekh - On Bach)

So many years have passed since their amazing self-titled album. When i found out they have a new one i was concern it wouldn't fulfill expectations, but even thou they were high, the trio have managed once again to bring something amazing to our ears. Of course it isn't as clicky, but it's dubby & melodic. Definitely an album to buy, and another one to add to one of those upcoming best of 2010 lists. (System - B)

Previous singles & eps from this artist gave me a taste of what's to come. This one has big advantage over those: it's much longer. Which means more joy. When you hear tracks like 'Fort Teen' you know you're dealing with something exceptional. This is one of those artist, & albums that shine bright over a theme, referred usually as abstract hip-hop. (Dorian Concept - When Planets Explode)

Resurrecting ghosts of 80's funk & disco has never been so much fun as this. Clear bass lines, synth melodies, playfulness, which will give any bad dancer his 5 minutes to be king of the dancefloor. (Oriol - Night & Day)

It's never too much of lush melodies, quirky rhythms, especially so entertaining & rewarding as this. Doesn't matter who has been copied the most, i think he's on his own now. (The Flashbulb - Arboreal)

There's unexpected departure from complex rhythms he was known of, but it gained some surreal sense of humor in the form of weird sounds, distorted vocals, odd melodies. At first it was a turn off but after some time earned my praise. Going againt expectations is probably a good thing. (Dimlite - Prismic Tops).

Yet another talented remixer, formerly 1/2 of Funkstorung fame, which was also known to produce great remixes. Most of the album reminds me of his 2nd solo album, which was full of elektro sound, this one has also additional Funstorung-era glitches, which should serve as undeniable recommendation. Highlights: Shadow Huntaz, Hecq, Raz Ohara, Scaffolding, The Broadway Project. (Michael Fakesch - Exchange). ps. written using WriteMonkey

There's a dangerous tendency by well known & respected artist to go nuts & release records which shouldn't see the light of the day. Deru is a perfect exception. It fits nicely after Pushing Air & Trying to Remember (although i like the first more). There's a nice video to, tyou could say, a hit-single - Peanut Butter & Patience, but the whole keeps you awake. (Deru - Say Goodbye to Useless)

It's nice to hear a solo project from one of the Funcken brothers. This one is pretty dynamic, glitchy, dubstepish, which is is a good thing in this case, it also has some house flavour to it. It's not a dramatic shift from Funckarma's sound, but significant. (Roel Funcken - Vade)
